Summary

Microsoft Exchange is a service/account that will link and update your iOS device with work related information such as email, contacts, and calendars.  When you receive emails and calendar updates, that information will be pushed to all devices (phones, tablets, work PC) that your Microsoft Exchange account is linked to. Each Butte County employee has their own personal exchange account created for them.

Notes

Before your email will work with your device your account needs to be have ActiveSync enabled.  County IS enables this setting contact your ISR to have them submit a request prior to attempting to follow this guide. Please remember, when you change your Butte County password for your work computer all of your devices will need that new password as well.

Steps

1. On your iOS device press the Settings icon.

2. Scroll down your settings and press on Passwords.

3. Navigate to and click Accounts.

4. Find and click Add Account.

5. Select Microsoft Exchange

6. Enter your Butte County email address and a nickname for your account. We used "work" as our description below. When you are finished, click Next in the top right corner of the screen.

7. A new pop up window will appear. Click Sign In.

8. The screen will revert to the Exchange credentials login, this time with the Password line available. Enter your Password then click Next.

9. A window will pop up confirming your settings. We are looking for 3 Blue Checks to confirm the process is successful.

10. Another window will pop up asking for permissions request. Select Accept.

11 . Next we will have the option to synchronize (or sync) multiple accounts. Most people will want to sync all available options allowing mail, calendar, etc. information to update on your iOS device. When the slider toggle is green the account is selected to sync. Click, Save once you have finished.

NOTE: This process can fail for two reasons. (1) Active Sync is not enabled – double check with IS. (2) Active Sync is newly enabled – give it some time and try again.

You have now completed setting up your Exchange account on your iOS device.
