Summary
This tutorial will guide you in enabling your Global Protect VPN client if you have become disconnected and are unable to login.
NOTE: Ensure your internet connection is connected and working. If you see this symbol in the bottom right of your desktop screen, click it to open a window with available Wi-Fi networks to connect to.
Steps
1. Login to your PC using the account information provided on your sticker label.
Username: bci\DS-User
Password: Pa55word
2. Click on the Global Protect globe icon at the bottom of your desktop screen. The Global Protect client window will appear
3. Click Enable and log in using your Butte County credentials. These are the same credentials used to log into your work PC.
4. The client window will now say, “Connected” after successfully logging in.
5. If you have previously set up an RDP session and created a desktop shortcut, click this Shortcutto open your RDP session.
6. If you do not have a desktop shortcut to your RDP session, search Remote Desktop Connection in the Windows search bar at the bottom left corner of your desktop.
7. Open the Remote Desktop Connectionapplication.
8. Ensure the “Computer” name field has your correct work PC name or IP address.
9. If you need to login to your RDP session, click the Show More drop down arrow in the bottom left and use your Butte County credentials to sign in. Your username will need to be preceded by, “bci\” to sign into a remote session. Example below:
USERNAME: bci\username
PASSWORD: password
10. You should now be able to Connect to your RDP session and work remotely.
11. When you are finished working for the day click the X to close your desktop.
12. Last step is to disconnect from the Global Protect VPN. Click on the 3 lines in the top right of the box. Then click Disable.
